Shot in France, California and Texas, Thirst for Power explores the history of civilisation’s quest to produce abundant water and energy. With profound insights, and millennium old-wisdom, the film explores how ancient innovations and technologies can help to insure the long-term future for these life-giving forces. Changing the way we think about water and energy can secure the long-term sustainability of both precious resources.

Those who hold the power over water, so too hold the power over energy. Water and energy are the two fundamental components of a society, and they are inextricably linked.

Thirst for Power is an award-winning documentary from Emmy-winning director Mat Hames that aims to intrigue and educate its audience.

Shot across France, California, and Texas, it explores the history of civilisation’s quest to procure abundant water and energy — from ancient Roman aqueducts in Europe to modern America’s vast hydroelectric infrastructure.

Adapted from internationally recognised thought leader Dr. Michael E. Webber’s book Thirst for Power: Energy, Water, and Human Survival, this documentary explores our dependence on water for energy as well as vulnerabilities in our current systems. Changing the way we think about water and energy can secure the long-term sustainability of both precious resources.

While watching the film we find an auspicious path toward wise, long-range water-energy decisions and a more reliable and abundant future for humanity.
