Speaking @ 10 Billion: What’s On Your Plate? As Presiding Member of the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges NRM Board, Chris leads a community-centred effort to manage, protect and, in some cases, restore the region’s natural resources. Under Chris’s leadership, the NRM board, in consultation with primary producers, the community, government and industry, is responsible for the development of the region’s NRM Plan, which sets goals, priorities and targets for the sustainable use of natural resources in the region. The plan aims to ensure there is a balance between the needs of the environment, people and the economy. Chris is also Professor of Biology at the University of South Australia. He is a prolific scientist and author, having written or edited nine books and a DVD, and contributed to more than 170 scientific publications. He has been published on issues regarding the natural and built environments, and has an abiding interest in reptiles, particularly lizards. Chris is also an award-winning science communicator. He has regular sessions on 891 ABC Radio, and has written for many popular press publishers, on a range of science and environmental topics Speaking @ 10 Billion: What’s On Your Plate? Laura Trotta is one of Australia’s leading home sustainability experts. She has a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering, a Masters of Science (in Environmental Chemistry) and spent 11 years working as an environmental professional in industry before creating her first online eco business, Sustainababy, in 2009. She has won numerous regional and national awards for her fresh and inspiring take on living an ‘ecoceptional’ life (including most recently winning the Brand South Australia Flinders University Education Award (2015) for the north-west region in SA and silver in the Eco-friendly category of the 2015 Ausmumpreneur Awards). With a regular segment on ABC Radio and with her work featured in publications like Nurture Parenting and My Child Magazine, Laura is an eco thought leader who’s not afraid to challenge the status quo. A passionate believer in addressing the small things to achieve big change, and protecting the planet in practical ways, Laura lives with her husband and two sons in Roxby Downs, South Australia. Craig is a community activist of 25 years’ experience. After dropping out of an economics degree, he has worked as a community health nurse in Australia, India and West Africa, on energy poverty with the SA Council of Social Services, on community food systems and active transport in the State Government Office of Sustainability, for a variety of community causes (some lost, some found) and in State Parliament with SA’s first Greens MP. For the last 2 years, Craig has been the Chief Executive of the state’s peak environment body, the Conservation Council SA. He is a passionate believer in collective altruism – the act of people generously working together on behalf of others and the planet we call home. Born into a creative, academic family in Adelaide, South Australia Christie has spent her life involved with the arts Christie has worked for Festivals here and abroad, including the Edmonton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, Edinburgh Book Festival, Edinburgh Science Festival, Melbourne Fringe, Womadelaide and more recently as Director of the Adelaide Fringe as it went from a biennial festival to an annual event. As a creative entrepreneur, Christie is also known for encouraging the owner of the majestic Belgian mirror tent, The Famous Spiegeltent to ship it out of Europe for the first time, co-founding the highly successful Garden of Unearthly Delights in Adelaide in the year 2000. Christie took up the inaugural position of the Creative Director of the Adelaide College of Arts in 2010, working with Chair, Robyn Archer and a high profile national Board to grow the local and national profile of that prestigious arts education facility. In February 2014, Christie returned to working with festivals taking the reins of Festivals Adelaide, the alliance of 10 of the best festivals in Australia, that all happen to be in Adelaide. She now works across festivals, government departments and with other peak bodies to raise the profile and stature of 10 highly unique events. Christie regularly publishes in popular media and occasional papers on the virtues of the arts and cultural sector. And is on the following Boards;
