Speaking @ Operation Jeedara
Born in the stunning Otway Ranges of Victoria, Jaxon grew up watching the beautiful forests that he loved being cleared to make Kleenex toilet paper. This spurred a passion for conservation in him that continues to this day. Jaxon now works for The Wilderness Society, the same organisation that successfully campaigned for the protection of the remaining forests of the Otways under the Great Otways National Park.
Jaxon has worked on various campaigns over the last 10 years including the successful campaigns to stop a proposed gas hub from being built at James Price Point in the Kimberley and as part of a cross organisational team to create new marine parks and sanctuaries in the North and North West Bioregions under the Federal Marine Bioregional Planning Process.
Most recently Jaxon worked on the Great Australian Bight campaign which has so far successfully pushed BP and Chevron to withdraw their plans to drill in the Bight. The Wilderness Society as part of the Great Australian Bight Alliance continues to fight to stop Chevron and Statoil – alongside
Australian companies Santos and Murphy Oil, from opening up this vast new offshore oil field in southern Australia.
