Speaking @ Operation Jeedara
I am currently very lucky to be working as part of the Sea Shepherd Australia team as Administration Coordinator at our Southern Operation Base in Williamstown Victoria. Operation Jeedera was my first campaign as off shore volunteer crew. I started as a deckhand and graduated to crane operator, ensuring our small boat launches were safe and efficient.
I originally joined Sea Shepherd 3 years ago as a Melbourne On Shore Volunteer as I wanted to “get off the couch” and do more for the environment and our magnificent oceans. I have always loved animals and felt a deep connection to the natural environment, be it the sea, mountains or forests.
Jeedera was a fantastic campaign showcasing the merciless might of the sea, isolated corners of the world untouched by humans and the amazing diversity of our flora and fauna. Dolphins, eagles, seals and of course the whale sanctuary were daily reminders to us what we had to lose if we allowed greed take over common sense.
